2006 NBA DRAFT PROFILE

NBA Draft: Curtis Withers

(zero stars)

College: Charlotte

Class: Senior

Stats: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/player/profile?playerId=12143

Position: PF

Height: 6’8”

Weight: 245lbs

Accolades: Conference USA All-Freshman Team (03), First Team All-Conference USA (04), First Team All-Conference USA (05)

Scouting Report: A fantastic rebounder who also has a decent handle with the ball.  Can score proficiently in the paint and has a decent jump shot.

Strengths: Rebounding.  Withers is a beast on the boards.  15 plus rebound games are not a rare thing for him to put up.  Good scoring in the post and he also is a decent dribbler.  Decent jump shooter with range back behind the arc.

Weaknesses: Turnover prone.  Averages anywhere from 3-4 turnovers per game – not what you are looking for from a post player.  He is also is an inconsistent scorer, running off multiple games in a row with single digit scoring numbers.

Projected 2006 Draft Range: Late second round

Consensus:  Withers strong physique and rebounding skills will get him a few looks from NBA teams.  However he is far too turnover prone and inconsistent offensively right now to be considered a lock for a NBA job in the fall.
