2006 NBA DRAFT PROFILE

NBA Draft | NBA Mock Draft | 2006 Draft Profiles | Message Board

By Jeff Fox

NBA Draft: Eric Williams

College: Wake Forest

Class: Senior

Stats: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/player/profile?playerId=11799

Height: 6’9”

Weight: 280lbs

Accolades: Honorable Mention All-American (05), Second Team All-ACC (05)

Scouting Report:  A big body who loves to bang down low.  Can get and hold great post position.  Once he gets the ball down low it is almost always an easy score or a foul.  Isn’t overly mobile and has no game outside the paint.

Strengths:  Size – he has a huge body that allows him to get great post position.  Also draws tons of fouls.  Decent shot blocker and steals a few balls also.

Weaknesses: Lacks mobility due to his huge size.  Doesn’t have a face up game and will struggle guarding quick NBA post players.  Horrendous free throw shooter, which is compounded by the fact that he draws a lot of fouls.  Too short to play center in the NBA.

Projected 2006 Draft Range: late second round - undrafted

Consensus: Williams’ strength and ability to score in the paint will get him a look.  However his lack of height, combined with his bulk, leaves him without a true NBA position to play.  He does have long arms however, and if he slims down a bit (or increases his mobility) he may get a chance in the pros.
