2006 NBA DRAFT PROFILE

NBA Draft: Gerry McNamara

No Stars

College: Syracuse

Class: Senior

Stats: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/player/profile?playerId=11233

Height: 6’2”

Weight: 185lbs

Accolades: Big East All-Rookie Team (03), All Final Four Team (03), NCCA National Champion (03), Second Team All Big East (04), First Team All Big East (05), Big East All Tournament Team (05)

Scouting Report: Good floor leader who can dish it out or score on his own.  Shooting the 3 is his specialty.  Also racks up a lot of steals.

Strengths:  Experience – started all 4 years as an Orangeman, including the 03 championship year.  Can shoot the 3 with the best of them.  Also is a good penetrator, able to score or dish on his drives.

Weaknesses: Man to man defense – Syracuse plays a 2-3 zone which you don’t see too much in the NBA.  Lacks the size and foot speed to really excel at the point in the NBA or the shooting guard spot.

Projected 2006 Draft Range: Late second round - undrafted

Consensus:  His good college stats and championship experience will get him a sniff in the NBA.  However, his size and speed don’t bode well for a long NBA career.  He looks like another in an endless line of outstanding college players whose skill set and physical tools don’t translate well to the NBA.
