2006 NBA DRAFT PROFILE

NBA Draft: Justin Gray

College: Wake Forest

Class: Senior

Stats: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/player/profile?playerId=11796

Height: 6’2”

Weight: 194lbs

Accolades: Fourth Team Freshman All-American (03), ACC All-Freshman Team (03), First Team All-ACC (04), Second Team All-ACC (05), MVP Preseason NIT (05)

Scouting Report:  An explosive scorer who loves shooting the three.  Can also beat his man off the dribble to score.  An undersized 2 guard without a lot of point guard skills

Strengths: Big time scorer.  Gray has been a productive scorer for four years now in the ever-tough ACC.  Can knock down the three with the best of them.  Also is quick off the dribble and likes nailing threes while leading on the fast break.

Weaknesses: Another “tweener” NBA prospect – too small to be an effective 2 guard - doesn’t possess point guard skills.  He racks up almost as many turnovers as assists at the college level – can only imagine what those numbers would be like in the pros.  Also doesn’t shoot for a very high percentage.

Projected 2006 Draft Range: late first round – early second round

Consensus:  Gray’s NBA potential will be limited due to his size.  Still, quite a few “combo” guards make it in the pros.  The deciding factor will be if he can improve his point guard abilities and prove he can defend in the NBA.  His scoring ability will at least give him the chance to see if he can do this.
