Position: PF
Height: 6”11”
Weight: 235lbs
Accolades:
Mr. Basketball – Colorado (high school) (03), WAC All-Newcomer Team
(04), First Team All-WAC (05), WAC Player of the Year (05), AP Honorable
Mention All-American (05), First Team All-WAC (06), WAC Player of the
Year (06), AP Third Team All-American (06), WAC Tournament MVP (06).
Scouting Report:
An accomplished scorer, both inside and out - despite his awkward
athleticism.
Strengths:
A big time scorer – Fazekas has averaged 20 plus his last two seasons.
Also a very good rebounder, averaging over 10 his junior year. His long
arms allows him to block lots of shots. Can score inside or step
outside and knock down the jumper, all the way back beyond the three
point arc. Excellent free throw shooter. Confident – has been the
go-to guy for the Wolf Pack and the best player in the WAC his sophomore
and junior seasons.
Weaknesses:
Very weak
physically – would get pushed around in the NBA. Not very athletic,
quick or a great leaper – appears very awkward on the court.
Projected 2006 Draft
Range:
Early to late second round pick.
Consensus:
Fazekas could
use another year in college to work on getting stronger and quicker. He
has the skill set to be a good NBA player, just not the body yet.
