Skilled big man hoping to avoid usual European label.
Strengths:
Solid jump shot and range, but also has improving moves in the paint.
A bit more aggressive than other European prospects, and not physically
soft. Quick enough to guard NBA power forwards.
Weaknesses:
Improving down low, but lacks explosiveness in the paint. Offensive
game better suited for being a small forward, but not quick enough to guard
most NBA three's. Though his lower body is physically impressive, his
upper body lacks bulk and definition.
Projected 2006 Draft Range:
Late 1st Round to Early 2nd Round.
Consensus: Pecherov
has the skill to surpass other forwards that might be taken ahead. However,
in some ways, he's kind of a tweener. His offensive game is more suited to
being a small forward, but his body keeps pushing him more towards the
Center position.
