Position: C
Height: 7’0”
Weight: 225bs
Accolades:
Honorable Mention
All-Pac 10 Freshman (03), NCAA Oakland Region Most Outstanding Player
(06).
Scouting Report:
A long, athletic but thin big man.
Strengths:
Athletic – can
run the floor, finish alley oops and dunk home rebounds. Great hops –
he was a champion long jump and triple jumper in high school – also was
a long, high and triple jumper at UCLA his freshman year. Shoots for a
very high percentage.
Weaknesses:
Weak – Hollins is
very thin and weak and shies away from the rough stuff down low. Still
very raw. Had a very unproductive, inconsistent collegiate career.
Didn’t play major minutes throughout his career – only averaged about 20
minutes per game through his 4 years. Has the potential to block a lot
of shots but averaged less than one a game over his career.
Projected 2006 Draft
Range: Mid
to late second round pick.
Consensus:
Hollins ended
his NCAA career on a high note, impressing NBA scouts with his play in
the Bruins run to the NCAA championship game. However, he has never
been a dominant performer at the collegiate level and definitely needs
to gain a ton of strength and weight before he can contribute in the
NBA. Still, with his height and athletic ability a team should be
willing to be patient with him.
