2006 NBA DRAFT PROFILE

NBA Draft: Yemi Nicholson

College: Denver

Class: Senior

Stats: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/player/profile?playerId=9175

Position: C

Height: 6’11”

Weight: 260lbs

Accolades: Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year (05), AP and S.I. Honorable Mention All-American (05).

Scouting Report: A raw, talented big man.  Potential.

Strengths: All things you want a big man to do.  Big time scorer in the post.  Good, yet raw, post moves.  Can occasionally hit the face up J.  Great rebounder – put up a 20 point, 20 board game this season.  Exceptional shotblocker – tends to leave his feet often but his long arms allows him to swat shots.  Good free throw shooter.  Size – large, solid body.

Weaknesses: Inexperienced – only played 1 year in high school, 1 year in JUCO, and 3 years in a mid-major conference.  Still quite raw.  Needs to get into better shape.  Would have to be a center – would struggle guarding 4’s in the NBA.  Age – will be 23 years old when the draft rolls around.

Projected 2006 Draft Range: Early to late second round pick.

Consensus:  Nicholson’s size and potential will certainly get him drafted.  His potential is intriquing, however, he is inexperienced yet not young –  he will be already “old” by NBA draft standards when his name is called in the draft.
