ACC/Big Ten Challenge Schedule Announced
ESPN announced the schedule for the 2005
ACC/Big Ten Challenge. The made for TV event features a
rematch of the 2005 NCAA Championship, and little else worthy of
excitement. This is the seventh annual year the two
conferences will square off in the Challenge, with this year's
games being played between November 28-30.
Besides the UNC/Illinois game, the other
games with some sizzle are Duke playing at Indiana and Georgia
Tech heading to Michigan State. Last year, Indiana hosted
UNC is the Challenge's highest rated game (2.0), and the Duke
game could experience similar success. Indiana Coach Mike
Davis thinks his players are already excited for the game.
"I think our players and coaches are looking forward to this
game against Duke." Coach David added, "Duke is consistently one
of the top teams in the country and it will be a good barometer
of where we are at as a team early in the season."
The ACC has absolutely dominated this event,
winning all six years of its existence, with a 34 win to 19 loss
differential. This year's event should be closer than last
year's 7-2 drubbing by the ACC, but a 6-5 ACC margin still seems
likely.
The ACC/Big Ten Challenge increases to 11 games from nine in the six previous
years, with the extra two being shown on ESPNU.
