Temple Signs Ramone Moore
PHILADELPHIA (05/31/07) – Ramone Moore, a 6-4 guard from Southern High, has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Temple University on a men’s basketball scholarship. Moore becomes the fifth member of Temple head coach Fran Dunphy’s first full recruiting class, joining early signees - 6-9 forward Lavoy Allen, 6-10 forward Micheal Eric, 6-2 guard Martavis Kee and 6-8 forward Craig Williams.
Scott Grote to Leave Duquesne Program
PITTSBURGH – Head men’s basketball coach Ron Everhart announced today that freshman guard/forward Scott Grote (Centerville, Ohio/Massanutten (Va.) Military Academy) has received his release from Duquesne University, clearing the way for his transfer to another school.
“Scott informed me that he decided it would be best for him to continue his college career at a different school and we honored his request,” said Everhart. “I informed Scott that we were only interested in players who wanted to be with us here at Duquesne. I wish him the best.”
Duquesne Signs Brandon Harris
PITTSBURGH – Duquesne University head men’s basketball coach Ron Everhart has announced that forward Brandon Harris (Akron, Ohio/St. Vincent-St. Mary) has signed a written offer of admission and plans to enroll this fall as a member men’s basketball team. Harris is the fourth player to commit to the Dukes this spring.
Kentucky to pay UMass to get out of return game
According to ESPN's Andy Katz, Kentucky will pay UMass $50,000 to get out of their game, originally scheduled for November 24th. The game, slated to be played in Boston at the TD Bankworth Garden, had already sold 7,000 tickets.
Vernon Goodridge Transfers to La Salle
La Salle University announced that 6’9 junior Vernon Goodridge has transferred to La Salle from Mississippi State. Goodridge, formerly a consensus Top 50 prospect out of high schoo, will be eligible to compete for the Explorers beginning with the 2008-09 season. “Vernon was one of the most highly ranked and sought after prospects in country out of prep school,” explained Giannini. “We recruited him then and we are very happy that he decided to come to La Salle now.” He averaged barely eight minutes per game in two seasons, but blocked 35 shots in that time and pulled an average of 2.5 rebounds per game.
Temple's Salisbery Invited to Pre-Draft Camp
PHILADELPHIA (05/16/07) – Temple University senior guard Dustin Salisbery has been invited to the 2007 NBA Pre-Draft Camp held at Disney’s Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Fla. Salisbery earned his invitation to the prestigious camp with his stellar showing at The Portsmouth Invitational (April 4-7) where he averaged 16.7 points and eight rebounds per game to garner all-tournament honors.
Washington State's Matthews to Transfer
ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. — Men’s basketball head coach Mark Schmidt announced on Thursday that shooting guard Chris Matthews will transfer to St. Bonaventure from Washington State University.
A 6-foot-4, 207-lb. guard, Matthews will have two seasons of eligibility remaining after he sits out the 2007-08 season per NCAA transfer guidelines.
SLU Signs JUCO Forward
ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis University head men’s basketball coach Rick Majerus today announced that 6-foot-7 power forward Barry Eberhardt (Inkster, Mich./Coffeyville CC) has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend the University and play basketball for the Billikens. He will have two years of eligibility beginning with the 2007-08 academic year.
Former Illinois St Coach Joins SLU Staff
ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis head men’s basketball coach Rick Majerus today announced that Porter Moser will join the Billiken men’s basketball staff as an assistant coach. The former Creighton guard was the head coach at Illinois State from 2003-04 to 2006-07 after a three-year stint as the head coach at Arkansas-Little Rock.
Duquesne Signs Bill Clark
PITTSBURGH – Duquesne University head men’s basketball coach Ron Everhart has announced the signing of guard Bill Clark (Redondo Beach, Calif./Worcester (Mass.) Academy) to a National Letter of Intent.
The 6-5, 200-pound Clark is the second spring signee for the 2007-08 recruiting class. He joins David Theis (Pittsburgh, Pa./Vincentian Academy/Mercersburg (Pa.) Academy) (pronounced TICE) who signed with the Dukes in mid-April.
Clark, who attended the same prep school as Dukes’ guard - and two-year starter - Aaron Jackson, will have four seasons of eligibility with Duquesne.
