He is the player responsible for standing at the helm of his team and guiding them as an offensive catalyst, while also serving as the first line of defense on the other end of the floor. Is it any wonder then that seven of the last nine national champions have seen their point guard drafted in June? Probably not.

WCC Media Poll & All-Conference Team
Gonzaga University edged Saint Mary's College and the University of San Diego in the 2008-09 WCC men's basketball pre-season poll as selected by the league coaches. The announcement was made at the 2008 WCC Basketball Media Day at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, site of the 2009 WCC Basketball Tournament.
Preseason Mid-Major All-Americans: 08-09
CollegeHoops.net's Preseason Mid-Major All-America Team is dominated by a pair of impressive guards: Stephen Curry and Patrick Mills. Not surprisingly, Curry was a unanimous pick amongst all of our voters for Mid-Major Player of the Year honors. Besides Curry and Mills, other returning 2007-08 Collegehoops.net Mid-Major All-Americans include Lester Hudson (2nd Team last year), Al Fisher (3rd Team), and Ryan Wittman (3rd Team).

College Football: #8 BYU @ #24 TCU Preview
Thursday night is here, and for those of you with little or no interest in the ALCS there are a couple of intriguing college football games on tap. Florida State has a chance to make a statement in the ACC Atlantic race when they visit NC State. Yes, the Wolfpack have struggled this season, but keep in mind that they did beat East Carolina (a win that looks less impressive by the week it seems) in Raleigh and QB Chrisitan Ponder hasn't exactly lit it up against FBS competition for the 'Noles.
