20 of the nation's top basketball players 19 years old and younger (born on or after Jan. 1, 1988) have accepted invitations to participate in the June 28-30 USA Basketball Men's U19 World Championship Team Trials that will be held at the Dallas Mavericks' practice facility. The Trials will be used to select the finalists for the USA Basketball U19 World Championship Team that will look to return home with gold from the 2007 FIBA U19 World Championship that is being held in July 12-22 in Novi Sad, Serbia.
Los Angeles, CA (April 11) - Isaiah Jenkins will not have far to travel when heplays NCAA Division I basketball next year, as the senior from Southern
California power Westchester High School has signed his National Letter of Intent to attend Loyola Marymount University starting in the fall of 2007.
Jenkins helped Westchester, which is located no more than a mile from LMU's main campus, to a 26-7 overall record, 10-2 league and helped them reach the CIF Southern Sectional Finals against Fairfax.
There were too many games to count on Saturday.. so how is it possible to review them all? By writing the quickest, most straight-forward thoughts on every player and game possible..
Before overtime, Marist-Siena was one of the best games of the year. Hopefully these two will meet in the MAAC finals.
I'm convinced that Drexel would have the chance to go farther than any other CAA team if they made the tournament.
VT's Zabian Dowdell dserves serious ACC Player of the Year consideration.
Who knew Andy Rautins (15 ppg in last 4 games) would be Syracuse's most consistently solid player in their 4-game winning streak?
Nothing like a good Saturday of college hoops.. 21 of the Top 25 teams in action. More importantly, a lot of these teams are on the road at hostile conference foes. #5 Kansas at Texas Tech, #13 Nevada at New Mexico State, #19 LSU at Arkansas are just a few of them. Then you have some solid non-conference games like #23 Texas at Villanova.
Will be interesting to see how the Longhorns rebound from the epic triple-OT loss at Oklahoma State. My guess is that game will only make them better in the long run. Durant's on crazy good run, averaging 34 ppg over his last 4 games. Nova's no joke either, but they have been vulnerable at home with losses to DePaul and Drexel. DJ Augstin isn't the only top freshman PG in this game. Scottie Reynolds has been playing the best ball of his young career in recent weeks. The once almost-Oklahoma recruit is averaging 20.5 per game over his last four, after not breaking the 20 point mark in his first 13 games.
