College Football: January 1st-3rd Preview
Happy New Year! The first day of 2009 offers up some intriguing matchups on the gridiron, but given the recent phenomena of spreading out bowl games over an entire month New Year's Day can seem a bit barren to some. Bragging rights for conferences are on the line as well, most notably in a couple of matchups between the Big Ten and SEC along with a traditional showdown in Pasadena. The league/team with the most to lose: Virginia Tech, champions of the ACC.

College Basketball: 20 Random Thoughts & Observations
1 - Most college basketball teams are guard oriented, but Leonard Hamilton didn't get the memo. Outside of Toney Douglas, FSU has virtually no one of much worth in the backcourt. Douglas is an underrated player, but there's too much pressure on him.
GameNight: Mississippi St vs Cincinnati
Editor's Early Preview (9/15):
A mildly interesting Big East/SEC Challenge affair featuring two middle of the pack teams. Cincy has been a surprising team early, but could find the rigors of the Big East play a bit more challenging. A win by the Bearcats against a mediocre Mississippi State team is a must if they hope to crash the Big Dance.

GameNight: Xavier at Cincinnati
On one of college basketball's better early Saturdays, #9 Xavier (8-0) takes on Cincinnati (6-1) in a battle for Ohio supremacy. This was a great game last year, a defensive slugfest in which Xavier came out on top, 64-59. Expect nothing different from this annual battle for bragging rights in Ohio.
College Football: Saturday Touchdowns
Heading into this Saturday it seemed like the Notre Dame Fighting Irish were well on their way to a seventh victory and a berth in either the Gator or Sun Bowl. All they had to do was beat Syracuse, playing for a recently dismissed head coach in Greg Robinson and dead last in the Big East. But while the Orange haven't played particularly well this season, you can't accuse this team of quitting. What ensued was one of the more stunning results of the day, with Syracuse stunning the Irish 24-23 on a late touchdown pass. Where do the Irish go from here?
