Big East Friday Recap: Hoyas, Mountaineers Advance to Final

March 13th, 2010
Greg Monroe was a handful for MarquetteWith both games being rematches of regular season meetings that took place way back in early January, it was tough to get a read on how much from those games would be applied to tonight. But one thing most certainly did not carry over from those contests in Georgetown's 80-57 win over Marquette: the Golden Eagles had no answer for Greg Monroe. The sophomore center had his fingerprints all over the first semifinal of the night, finishing with 23 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists.

March 12th, 2010
How serious is Arinze Onuaku's injury?Going into the Big East Tournament there wasn't much concern in regards to whether or not the Syracuse Orange would be a one-seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament. Prevailing wisdom had Jim Boeheim's team doing more than enough before this weekend to wrap up the top spot in one of the other three regions (can't stay in the East since the Carrier Dome hosts a regional).

West Virginia's Devin Ebanks

At one point a near-lock to wrap up a double-bye in the upcoming Big East Tournament, West Virginia finds itself just a game ahead of Louisville and Marquette in the race for one of those final two slots. They host a Georgetown squad that's in serious need of some positive momentum coming off of a double-digit home loss to Notre Dame on Saturday afternoon. The formula for the Hoyas is a rather simple one: as Chris Wright goes so do the Hoyas.

College Hoops Tuesday Recap: Gators Knock Off Tennessee

February 24th, 2010
Florida point guard Erving WalkerThere was no ignoring the fact that Billy Donovan's Florida Gators needed a win over Tennessee on Tuesday night. While it wouldn't have been a "final straw" one way or the other a win definitely would help their chances of getting back to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in three years. They'd also failed to beat Bruce Pearl's team in three years, a streak the Gators ended with a 75-62 win in Gainesville.

Florida's Vernon Macklin

Another night and another opportunity for bubble teams throughout the nation to add a solid victory to their resumes. Florida and Louisville have opportunities at home to just that and it's fitting that the coach of one school (Billy Donovan) was coached by the head coach of the other (Rick Pitino). The Gators are coming off of a crucial win at Ole Miss on Saturday in a game that likely was an "elimination match" for the loser.
