Osiris Eldridge Declares For 2009 NBA Draft

Indiana StateNORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State junior guard Osiris Eldridge has declared himself eligible for the 2009 NBA Draft. Eldridge will not sign with an agent and will have until June 15 to withdraw his name from the list of participants for the NBA Draft, which takes place June 25.

"Obviously, we support Osiris in this process and understand his willingness to weigh his options," said Illinois State head basketball coach Tim Jankovich. "This is a tremendous opportunity for him and, at the very least; it will be a great learning experience for him to build on for next year.

2009 MVC Tournament: Schedule/Seeding Set

ST. LOUIS -- For the fourth-straight year, the State Farm MVC Tournament will have a different top seed. Northern Iowa, which shared the regular-season title with Creighton, earned the No. 1 MVC Tournament seed for the first time in school history. The Panthers, picked sixth in the league's pre-season poll, finished with a regular-season record of 20-10 and 14-4 in league play, and held the tiebreaker over co-champion Creighton (25-6, 14-4).

Missouri Valley ConferenceIn recent seasons, the Missouri Valley Conference has had great success at home in non-conference play, and the league is at it again, recording a 7-1 home start in the first week of the season.  In the past four seasons (not counting this year), the league has combined for a 226-33 (.873) mark at home in non-conference play.  The results have translated into 20 post-season bids (including 10 NCAA trips, nine NITs and a CBI entry).

MVC Media Poll: Creighton Favored

Missouri Valley ConferenceOMAHA, Neb. -- The Creighton men¹s basketball team is the near-unanimous pick to win the Missouri Valley Conference, according to the preseason poll announced today during the league¹s annual Basketball Media Day. Creighton earned 36 of 39 first-place votes in the survey of league coaches, beat writers, sports information directors and play-by-play men.
