ESPN's somewhat ridiculous but somewhat awesome 24 hours of college basketball tips off tonight, as we enter the first full week of action. Four Top 20 teams are in action, though none should be tested. Most eyes will be on the young freshmen stars on the likes of Duke & Kentucky, especially the debut of UK's John Wall.

 

After the championship game, CBS once again followed tradition and showed a montage of tourney clips set to the cheasiest song ever written - "One Shining Moment." The lyrics are below.

For all of you who, like me, had their brackets destroyed well before the big game, I have provided a slightly different set of lyrics. Interspersed within "One Shining Moment" are the words to my song, in parentheses - "One Sh!tty Moment". Hope you enjoy.

 

CBS Sports' coverage of the Final Four on Saturday, April 4 earned an average overnight household rating/share of 9.0/18, up +7% from an 8.4/16 last year.

CBS Sports' overall average overnight household rating/share for the tournament-to-date is a 6.1/13, up +7% compared to last year's 5.7/12.

Though I live in the Boston area, I'm not going to the NCAA Tourney games at The Garden. Why? For one, if you've never been to Boston, it's much like NYC, but without all the easy-to-find parking spots. Beantown used to have plenty of parking - in 1776. So yeah, there's an abundance of on-street parking assuming that your mode of transportation is an Appaloosa.

I guess I'd go if I got great seats. Something in the rafters would be perfect. Well, not actually "in" the rafters- but harnessed to the rafters and dangling down, hovering above the court.

Saturday Announcer Pairings. Nantz & Kellogg remain in Greensboro for the power pairing of Duke & UNC games. Unlike the first round, in which Dick Enberg only did one of two sessions, he'll be announcing both of the Philadelphia games.

 

When you watch as much of the NCAA Tournament as us die-hards do.. you inevitably form close bonds with the announcers on CBS. Some strong congenial bonds.. others I could do without.  Here is the CBS college basketball roster, including links to profiles on CBS.com, their role during the broadcast, and my rating of their recent work. 

 

The people's favorite Gus Johnson joins Len Elmore in Minneapolis to cover the day's best set of games. Meanwhile, the solid Lundquist/Raftery combo can be considered CBS' lead pair of the day as they get the #1 overall seed Louisville, #1 Pittsburgh, and 2 potentially close 8-9 games.
