Freshman 10: Beasley Leads Love
February 19th, 2008

I really wish I had something
profound and interesting to say this time around but I don’t. And I think that’s
kinda fitting for this time of the college hoops season. Earlier in the year we
had to create things to talk about in order to justify paying attention to hoops
over football and other stuff. But with the sports landscape all to itself and a
season that has been exciting but void of any transcendent storylines on
the court (and don’t say Memphis, Undefeated because I still can’t find anyone
Freshman 10: Kevin Love Surpasses Michael Beasley

I should start this off by saying I
am a New York Giants fan. As a result, the last few days have been pretty
incredible. The Super Bowl win knocked Syracuse’s 2003 NCAA title off the top of
the best sports moments of my life. For any fan, it’s fun to see upsets like
that but you can’t really anticipate what it feels like when your team is on the
good end of the upset (and I imagine the same is true of the opposite). And the
reason I bring this up on a basketball Web site is because a game like this

Freshman 10: Eric Gordon Still #1
January 22nd, 2008

We’re roughly around the halfway point of the hoops season and, like a cry for
help, teams across the country decided to band together for an
utterly confounding week full of upsets, parity and upside-down conference
standings. The freshmen rankings are just as muddled, with some studs tailing
off and other dark horses emerging. And since there are few players that can

Freshman 10 Conference Play Primer: SEC & Pac-10
January 10th, 2008

With the New Year brings
clarity. Not only has the excruciating bowl season come to an end, allowing us
to focus solely on college hoops, with the occasional Patriots hatefest
NFL football game mixed in here or there, but with the start of ’08 comes
conference play for the BCS leagues. This means no more North Floridas or
Sacramento States or Prairie View A & Ms on the schedule. No, this means we will
be treated to a bevy of decent matchups on a nightly basis, providing a
meaningful way to discern between squads, rather than wild guessing, or even

Freshman 10: Rookie Review

Ah, Finals Time. The time of year where college hoops
fans/writers really stretch their love of the game to find something,
anything, to get excited about. Do you stand by your game and endure such
classics as Duke-Michigan, UNC-Rutgers and Kansas-Ohio? Or do you cleanse the
system of college hoops for awhile, replenishing the fluids for the last of the
non-conference schedule and then gorge yourself on the opening week of league
play once those pesky bowl games subside?
