Ted, 20, is currently a junior
at Colgate University in upstate New York. He is entering his third year
as the Internet radio play-by-play voice of eight different Colgate sports
teams (men’s and women’s basketball, lacrosse, and soccer, as well as
women’s hockey and softball). He has television experience as a pre-game,
intermission, and post-game host for Colgate University Television (CUTV)’s
men’s and women’s basketball, men’s hockey, and football coverage. Ted
also assisted professional broadcast teams from Madison Square Garden
Network, Fox Sports Net, and ESPN by providing statistics in the booth
during Colgate’s improbable 15-1, Division 1-AA runner-up 2004 season. He
has covered roughly 90 events in his first two years at Colgate.
Highlights of Ted’s broadcasting
career include having served as the radio play-by-play announcer for the
2004 Patriot League championship games in both women’s basketball and
women’s lacrosse. He was also on-hand when Colgate men’s basketball player
Mark Linebaugh hit a memorable half-court buzzer-beater to defeat American
in the final game of the 2002-03 regular season. CUTV footage of the shot
subsequently aired on ESPN’s “SportsCenter.”
In addition to covering the
Patriot League for CHN, Ted writes a weekly National Basketball
Association column for the Colgate Maroon-News. He conducts weekly
interviews with athletes which are available on the Colgate Athletics
website, and writes articles for the department periodically. Ted prepares
a pre-game feature article for each of his radio broadcasts which are
available at Sportsjuice.com. He also hosts “The Bottom Line,” a one-hour
weekly sports talk show which airs on CUTV and covers a variety of topics
relating to college and professional sports.
A native New Yorker, Ted
currently resides in Chappaqua, New York. While at Colgate, he is majoring
in Political Science and pursuing elementary teacher certification while
furthering his broadcasting career.
