Group Rankings: Trios

FOR A COMPLETE PREVIEW OF THE 2007-2008 SEASON, CLICK HERE

In addition to a solid inside-outside combo, which many teams have, the thing that sets apart the elite from the also-rans is that third option. Opponents can set up a game plan to shut down the top two players, but it is nearly impossible to contain a solid troika. When teams that have three outstanding players are hitting on all cylinders, they usually don't lose. Here are the top trios heading into the season:

1. North Carolina: Tywon Lawson, Wayne Ellington, Tyler Hansbrough
2. Memphis: Derrick Rose, Chris Douglas-Roberts, Joey Dorsey
3. UCLA: Darren Collison, Josh Shipp, Kevin Love
4. Kansas: Mario Chalmers, Brandon Rush, Darrell Arthur
5. Tennessee: Chris Lofton, JaJuan Smith, Tyler Smith
6. Oregon: Bryce Taylor, Malik Hairston, Maarty Leunen
7. Marquette: Dominic James, Jerel McNeal, Wesley Matthews
8. North Carolina State: Gavin Grant, Brandon Costner, Ben McCauley
9. Georgetown: Jonathan Wallace, DaJuan Summers, Roy Hibbert
10. Stanford: Brook Lopez, Lawrence Hill, Robin Lopez

Five More to Watch:
Texas A&M: Josh Carter, Joseph Jones, DeAndre Jordan
Texas: D.J. Augustin, A.J. Abrams, Damion James
Mississippi State: Jamont Gordon, Barry Stewart, Charles Rhodes
Davidson: Jason Richards, Stephen Curry, Thomas Sander
Duke: Greg Paulus, Kyle Singler, DeMarcus Nelson
