Group Rankings: Wing Duos

FOR A COMPLETE PREVIEW OF THE 2008-2009 SEASON, CLICK HERE

An inside-outside combo and a solid trio are necessary to win a national championship, but having wings that can score are important as well. Two perimeter players that can create their own shots and take pressure off the point guard and the post players make a team that much more dangerous. Here are the top wing duos in the country heading into the season:

1. UCLA: Jrue Holiday, Josh Shipp
2. Duke: Elliot Williams, Gerald Henderson
3. Tennessee: Scotty Hopson, Tyler Smith
4. North Carolina: Wayne Ellington, Danny Green
5. Connecticut: A.J. Price, Jerome Dyson

6. LSU: Marcus Thornton, Tasmin Mitchell
7. Gonzaga: Matt Bouldin, Austin Daye
8. Marquette: Jerel McNeal, Wesley Matthews
9. Purdue: E’Twaun Moore, Robbie Hummell
10. Syracuse: Eric Devendorf, Paul Harris

Others to Keep an Eye On:

USC: DeMar DeRozan, Dwight Lewis
Baylor: LaceDarius Dunn, Henry Dugat
Oklahoma State: James Anderson, Obi Muonelo
Georgetown: Jessie Sapp, DaJuan Summers
West Virginia: Alex Ruoff, Devin Ebanks

Liking the love for Syracuse. But since are top 15 in almost every category you've listed except SG and PF, I expect we are in the top 15 of your preseason rankings.

If college basketball was a 4-on-4 half-court game, I'd certainly rank Syracuse in the top-15...but they need to improve their defense first. It was awful last season.
