Top 10 Inside-Outside Combos

Even if you are stacked in the backcourt, you may be weak on the interior. Conversely, a team may be loaded in the paint, but not very powerful at the guards. To win the title, production from both inside and outside is necessary. Here are the top ten perimeter-post duos:

Note: In order to make the list, a team needed a guard and a legit post player. Hence, the reason there is no Kyle Singler or Wesley Johnson anywhere to be found.

1. Kentucky: John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins are two of the most talented players in the country; both are absolutely capable of taking over a game and leading the Wildcats.

2. Kansas: Sherron Collins and Cole Aldrich are two All-American studs that have been through the wars with each other. They are the reason that KU is the title favorite.

3. Georgetown: Despite being recently diagnosed with diabetes, Austin Freeman continues to light it up. Greg Monroe is one of the most difficult match-ups in the country.

4. Baylor: An underrated duo. LaceDarius Dunn is one of the top scorers in the country, while Ekpe Udoh has dominated the paint at both ends all season long for the Bears.

5. Purdue: Even though the Boilermakers don’t have Robbie Hummel, they still have a shot due to the tandem of guard E’Twaun Moore and big man JaJuan Johnson.

6. Notre Dame: With the return of Luke Harangody, the Fighting Irish are back to having one of the top duos in the nation in ‘Gody and perimeter scorer Tim Abromaitis.

7. Gonzaga: Guard Matt Bouldin is a go-to-guy on the perimeter; he can do everything for the Bulldogs. Freshman Elias Harris is a very tough match-up at the forward spot.

8. UTEP: The Miners rolled through Conference-USA this season on the backs of explosive guard Randy Culpepper and former Louisville transfer Derrick Caracter.

9. Wisconsin: Although they are not the most explosive of duos, senior guard Trevon Hughes and versatile forward Jon Leuer provide two offensive weapons for Bo Ryan.

10. Saint Mary’s: They don’t get as much attention as some other tandems, but center Omar Samhan an absolutely dominant force, while Mickey McConnell is a do-it-all guard.
