Game of the Day: #2 Lipscomb vs. #1 Belmont

Sure, there is a lot on the line in those regular season games today, such as Illinois/Michigan State, Charlotte/GW, Northern Illinois/Western Michigan, Wisconsin/Iowa, Washington/Arizona and UNC/Duke, but it's March, the real fun is in the conference tournaments. Along with Ivy League champion Penn, three more teams will make the NCAAs today from the Atlantic Sun, Big South and OVC. The most interesting has to be the 2:00 game on ESPN2. Crosstown rivals Belmont and Lipscomb both won on their homecourt during the regular season, and will decide who owns the city (I don't see Vandy dancing) on the biggest stage of them all. Ironically, the battle for Nashville takes place in Johnson City, TN, 285 miles from home. Keep an eye on the scrum under the basketball between Boomer Herndon and Shaun Durant. Belmont and Herndon probably have the upper hand in that battle, but both squads sport experienced, talented players. Normally this would be a well played game, but we'll let the nerves work themselves out in the first half. The second half should be great.
