Daily Bracketology: Thursday's Field of 65
Daily Bracketology
Another day, another Field of 65. As you should know by now, I'm projecting the Tournament field on a daily basis for the rest of the year (except no Saturday's since there's little action Friday). This is a field based on how the tourney looks "as of this moment." For one-bid leagues, I simply include the conference leader at the time of publishing. In case of ties, I use my projected winner.
Arrows indicate a team that moved up or down based on last night's performance. (Just because a team won or lost doesn't necessarily mean they'll move substantially.)
Note on Thursday's Movement: The Big Ten continues to be a pinball machine as the top teams jockey for position. Wisconsin's win over Indiana moves them up to the #1 four seed, while the Hoosiers fall to a five. Indiana's fall allowed Purdue to move up to a three for the first time. Besides Indiana, losses by Kansas State and Notre Dame allow Louisville to push up slightly despite being idle. By beating ND, UCONN passes Drake (losers to SIU) and Michigan State, moving to their highest position yet. Despite Drake's loss, they slide due to other losses by similarly ranked teams and because a road loss at SIU isn't a big deal. Farther down, Ohio State jumps from a ten to nine, mainly due to Florida's loss as opposed to OSU's meaningless win over Northwestern. Another loss by Ole Miss drops them out of the field for the present.. a 3-6 SEC team simply can't make it. Ole Miss is replaced by Arizona State, and the Sun Devils actually pass slumping Syracuse.. who is now the last team in the field. WKU is currently next in line should one of the 65 falter.
