Daily Dribble: Wednesday Rewind
You wouldn’t know it during this quiet week of college basketball action, but there was 16 games on tap last night. A mix of some clunkers and bona fide good games.
Here is a review/ranking of last night’s games in order from good to bad with a mention of why the game matters or didn’t.
1. #19 Vanderbilt 91 – DePaul 85 (OT)
Matters: Vandy’s now perfect 10-0 record was on the line after a poor start
Who Cares: The Demons couldn’t even beat NC A&T at home..
2. UMASS 83 – BC 80
Matters: Two teams likely to end up on the Tournament Bubble
Who Cares: BC will be one of the worst teams in the ACC though
3. Ohio 61 – Maryland 55
Matters: Just Maryland’s 4th non-conference home loss in 19 seasons
Who Cares: Already struggling Maryland’s 5th loss of the year
4. #17 Xavier 64 – Cincinnati 59
Matters: One of the underrated rivalries in the country
Who Cares: There was a whopping 19 point spread in this game
5. MTSU 86 – Belmont 80 (OT)
Matters: An overtime game that was back and forth the entire time
Who Cares: Most people outside of Tennessee don’t know these teams.

Matters: Bo McCalebb (24 points last night) is an underrated star
Who Cares: Richard Roby (27 points) was once considered an underrated star

Matters: Get used to the Cougars being ranked this year
Who Cares: Lamar is now 0-6 against D1 competition

Matters: Because Arkansas is on the verge of being ranked next week
Who Cares: UTSA’s lost two road games by a combined 46 points

Matters: Two solid teams with a combined record of 13-6
Who Cares: Only Pacific has a realistic chance of postseason play

Matters: This was the battle for Long Island
Who Cares: Despite the play of Antoine Agudio, Hofstra has been horrible (1-5)
12. Minnesota 78 – SDSU 72
Matters: Gophers are 7-1 under Tubby Smith
Who Cares: Gophers are barely able to put away teams like SDSU at home..

Matters: Wolf Pack are better than their 4-4 record seems
Who Cares: But they’re still just okay
14. Wisconsin 61 – UWM 39
