Final Four 2010

The Bracketology field is based on how the tourney looks "as of today." The field below is not based on who I think deserves to be in, but a prediction of what the committee would do as things stand. I'll next post a Bracketology update again on Monday. Look below for commentary on today's changes.

Why should you care what I have to say? In 2007 & 2008,  I was considered to have one of the Top 2 or 3 brackets amongst 53 national experts including Joe Lunardi, Gary Parrish and the like. (Admittedly my 2009 final bracket was rather weak.. not sure what happened. Can't win 'em all.)

Notes:

Arrows ( ) indicate movement by seed. Green font indicates new to the field this week. Conference champions are not my end of season predictions, but current leaders. (Ties atop conference standings go to the higher RPI team).

THOUGHTS

-- Rhode Island moves back in place of Mississippi St, who lost to Auburn the other night. MSU has just 1 Top 50 on the season. URI's RPI is up to 30th after their latest win over Charlotte, and that's simply too high not to take.

-- The lone conference leader switch is Temple over Xavier. This is due to Temple re-passing the Muskies in the RPI. Xavier played lowly Fordham, and that hurt their SOS.

-- A similar situation up top where Villanova passed Purdue for a #2 seed despite both teams winning. Purdue dropped to 13th in the RPI playing Indiana, while Nova won at Cincy and is 7th in the computer ranking.

-- UAB lost to Memphis, and tumbles 3 spots. I have them in the field for now, although others have them out. To me, their overall resume still shapes up nicely compared to other bubble teams like SDSU, Ole Miss (and now Memphis). However, the CUSA Tourney will go a large way in determining UAB & Memphis' fate. I still think the CUSA will get 2 teams in the field this year.

-- One other mid-level change to note is FSU moving up to an 8 after beating Wake. Wake remains a #9 seed, although their neck and neck with Louisville there.

What do you think about this week's field?

Too hard to find chart with red/green arrows

Shawn: When I come on to your site it is too hard to find my favorite part...your awesome seeding chart with the red and green arrows.I want to tell my co-workers to check it out, but I don't know how to tell them to navigate to your chart. Admittedly I am a dope on the computer, but I wanted you to know that there are dingdongs like me out there who like your site but can't figure it out.

Mississippi State Mistake

Just so you know you have Mississippi State listed in the Last In list as well as the Last Out list.
