Bracketology: Under A Month to Selection Sunday
|
Collegehoops.net's projections have consistently proven to be the best in the
business. Over the last 4 years,
Shawn Siegel is the #1
ranked Bracketologist according to the
Bracket Project.
This ranking includes the likes of Joe Lunardi, Gary Parrish, Jerry Palm, and
Andy Glockner.. none of whom come close.
As always, the field below is a prediction of what the committee would do as things stand today, not what they should do. This is done by taking into account standings, polls, computer rankings, and the committee's historical biases. Check out the follow up Bubble Watch for rankings and standings of teams on the NCAA Tournament Bubble

are you serious? oregon OOC
are you serious? oregon OOC SOS: 123, Arizona OOC: 68. play someone outside the conference
Don't forget, this is my
Don't forget, this is my projection of what the committee will do.. not who I think deserves a slot. Personally, I dont think either Ore or Az deserves a bid in the slightest. But AZ ranks higher than Oregon in other ratings, Sagarin, KenPom, etc and I know the committee will focus more on the non-conference schedule (Az's close losses to Florida and SDSU) than the head to head.

also, wins in top 100 RPI:
also, wins in top 100 RPI: arizona: 5 with a top 50 win @Cal, Oregon: 2

Long Beach State
Long Beach State falls after losing at the buzzer at Creighton? That seems strange.

Big East
I also don't understand how the Big East gets 9 teams in the field when it has South Florida in 4th place. I'm not saying you're wrong, that it's not going to happen, I just don't understand why it would happen.
Because of the Big East's
Because of the Big East's unbalanced schedule, the league standings dont necessarily equate to other league standings. They've simply had an easier schedule than a lot of other league teams. But I agree, it doesnt look to great for the league.
Unbalanced schedules
To be fair every BCS AQ league other than the Big 12 has unbalanced schedules. Not saying USF's in right now but analyzing conference play has become more about the lottery that happens when the schedules get released in the spring/summer.
So let's all stand up and thank college football for this nonsense.

Zona beats UCLA. Ugly win
Zona beats UCLA. Ugly win but still a win. If they beat ASU and finish with 2/3 wins in Pac 12 tourney and finish 24/5-10 they're in?

Actually you are rated 2nd
Actually you are rated 2nd best on Bracket Project.

You're so awesome! I don't believe I have read something like that before. So nice to discover somebody with genuine thoughts on this issue. Seriously.. many thanks for starting this up. This site is one thing that is needed on the internet, someone with a little originality!

arizona over Oregon?
Oregon has the road win @ Arizona and is 17 spots higher in the RPI. Yet you have Arizona 4 spots ahead of them. That makes zero sense. Arizona isn't ahead in h2h or in body of work.
