Final Four 2010

The Bracketology field is based on how the tourney looks "as of today." The field below is not based on who I think deserves to be in, but a prediction of what the committee would do as things stand. I'll next post a Bracketology update again on Friday. Look below for commentary on today's changes.

Why should you care what I have to say? In 2007 & 2008,  I was considered to have one of the Top 2 or 3 brackets amongst 53 national experts including Joe Lunardi, Gary Parrish and the like. (Admittedly my 2009 final bracket was rather weak.. not sure what happened. Can't win 'em all.)

Notes:

Arrows ( ) indicate movement by seed. Green font indicates new to the field this week. Conference champions are not my end of season predictions, but current leaders. Ties atop conference standings go to the higher RPI team. Check-mark () indicates automatic bid.

THOUGHTS

-- Nothing too crazy today due to the lack of action amongst most Top 50 teams. The bubble remains the same.

-- The only RPI-related swap is Baylor moving up to a #4 , dropping Vanderbilt to a #5. This has nothing to do with recent results, but Baylor is up to 8th in the RPI right now.

-- The big result of the past few days is St. Mary's knocking off Gonzaga for the WCC title. SMC moves from an 11 to 10, while Gonzaga drops from a 6 to a 7. Depending on how things go in the next few days, I think Gonzaga may fall down to an 8 seed as well.

-- The Gonzaga/SM changes allow Richmond to move up to a 6 seed and Virginia Tech down to an 11.

-- North Texas, who won the Sun Belt, is now the first 15 seed to me and could move up to a 14 should Sam Houston St falter in the Southland.

-- Seton Hall, USF, and URI won conference tourney games and each needs a win badly today in order to help take the spot of an Illinois or an Arizona St.

What do you think about today's field?

UW

still don't get ASU vs. UW. UW is at least as hot and beat them by 23 lasttime they played, plus they have at least one marquee win that ASU doesn't have(Tex A&M). Oh well I guess we will find out soon enough they will probably play Friday in what amount to a play in/elimination game

California MAY be a lock,

California MAY be a lock, however, they are not an automatic bid.
