Bracketology: January 5th

Our weekly and eventual Daily Field of 65 continues into Christmas week. The Bracketology field is based on how the tourney looks "as of this moment." Arrows indicate a team that moved up or down based on last week's performance. (Just because a team won or lost doesn't necessarily mean they'll move substantially though.)

Important: Up until the beginning of conference play, the #1 RPI team in the conference is listed as the projected champ! (The purpose is to prevent the bracketology series from merely being my own subjective views about who will eventually make it down the line)

Note on Today's Movement:

Arrows indicate movement by seed. Two arrows equals a change of two seeds, etc..

Every Week

To save Shawn the bother because someone makes the same post every week, look at the top, up until conference play gets going in full, the projected conference winners are taken from the #1 RPI team in the league at the time

But conference play is going

But conference play is going in full. What determines when the #1 RPI isn't used anymore? End of January? Mid February?

Huh?

If this is "as of this moment" like you say, then why are both Notre Dame and G'town higher seeds than Syracuse, who has a better BE record, and higher ranking (ND-both polls, GU -coaches). Me thinks you look ahead, which would contradict how you do this thing.

Good post

some fair points. G'Town is ranked higher than Cuse and has a better RPI. With regards to ND, I'm fairly certain the committee would see through Syracuse's big record, and realize they're lone win so far over a lock tourney team is Memphis. (who Gtown also beat). GTown though has the win over UCONN, and ND's now beaten Texas & GTown as of now.. 2 highly regarded squads.

OK...

I beleve Kansas will be a lock. who they basically beat at Kansas, as well as Florida (which I also think will make the tourney) and while G'town and SU both beat Memphis, SU did it on the road where G'town did it at home - in overtime. Then again, I am just nit-picking.
