College Basketball Lines & Predictions: Thursday

Betting
odds are a great
guide to college basketball entertainment. Unlike fans, who often ride the wave of
media predictions, betting lines tend to be a bit more focused and
can give you an objective picture of how teams matchup (though lines too can get caught
up in the wave of human emotion).
I'll discuss my daily predictions after the lines.. these are posted solely for fun, as I do not bet on games myself, nor do I suggest anybody else does either (it's not easy). If you agree or disagree with my picks, have thoughts on the days lines, or have upsets or picks to announce, post them below.

Like Ryder getting 5 points. They return 4 starters from a team that won 19 games last year. Virgina is in a rebuilding mode with a first year coach.

Rider's a good call after knocking of MSU on the road. I wonder if perhaps they'll have a let down following the big win earlier, but Virginia's certainly been less than impressive so far

Nova only up 2 with 7 minutes to go after being down early. what a horrific performance on their part, even if they win.. a ton of turnovers, a ton of missed ft's, hard to watch the game

PREDICTIONS
Unlike yesterday where both Butler and Saint Louis seemed like obvious picks over weaker BCS teams (Northwestern & Nebraska), nothing quite sticks out to me tonight.
It is interesting UNC is only a 2 point favorite over Ohio State on a neutral court considering the Heels are ranked 4th in the country. Perhaps a sign that the bettors know what many experts feel.. UNC is a tad overrated at this point. Still, I would not go near that game now.
The only team I like above is Villanova, despite being favored by 14.5. George Mason is 2-0 against very weak opponents in Liberty and Dartmouth (both who lost by 40+ in their other games). George Mason features a lot of young players who will struggle against the more talented Wildcats.
