Bill Walker to NBA instead of college?

Bill Walker was declared ineligible for HS ball in Ohio for this upcoming year, I guess Mayo has to carry more of the load for North College Hill this year. I wonder if he will go the prep school route this next year?

The Ohio high school athletic association has just cleared the way for Bill Walker to become a lottery pick in the 2007 NBA Draft.

Walker, best known as O.J. Mayo's teammate at North College Hill (Ohio) High -- but a legitimate NBA prospect on his own -- was declared ineligible for his senior season on Monday....

Ohio star Walker loses eligibility, draft may be in store

He claims he is going to finish HS at NCH. It smells sleazy to me. I am sure he knows how long he played varsity ball. He was trying to pull a fast one on the OHSAA.

Not like he could enter the 07 Draft anyways. With the new NBA rules, maybe he is a little more dense than expected.

he could depending on what his age is

I wrote about it at www.dwolin.blogspot.com

I did my research and tried to make the situation as clear as possible, though it is filled with information.

He knew he'd already played 4 yrs but probably had someone whispering in his ear everything would be handled. Don't think he'll be eligible for the 2007 NBA Draft. Personally, I really don't see the big deal with high school students going directly into the draft. Hockey and baseball does it but you only hear this "not mature enough" argument when it comes to basketball. Why is that? Figured the NBA would want to keep them coming considering how well they've done with previous high schoolers (i.e. Kobe Bryant, Kevin Garnett, LeBron James, Tracy McGrady).

I think Hockey and basketball may be the only major sports were it's possible to judge talent at the H.S. level. You can't tell if, even at a college level, a kid can hit a real curve so baseball can't be an argument. As a scout, it must be much easier to find these kids when theyre playing college basketball then hunting them down and following a H.S. game to see if a kid can play. This 19yr old/1yr removed rule seems, to me, to benifit the NBA GMs with reguard to evaluating talent and it's at least possible that a hidden motive exists. How many Kobes, Kevins, Lebrons, T-macs are there...those guys are freaks. As far as not mature enough goes, it's a joke, how mature do you have to be to fit into the NBA......Dawg.
