2009 Big Ten/ACC Challenge Schedule/Matchups Announced

ACC2009 Big Ten/ACC Challenge Highlights

Familiar Foes: In addition to meeting in the 2009 NCAA Championship Game and last year's ACC/Big Ten Challenge, Michigan State and North Carolina played in the first two Challenges (1999 and 2000) with the Spartans winning both games. North Carolina won both games last year.

First-Ever Meeting: Minnesota and Miami will square off in the first meeting between the two programs.

2009 Final FourThe opening weekend of the NCAA Tournament - also known as the greatest four days in sports - provided more than a few lessons. Among them: 1) If your company requires to take furlough days, there's no better time than the first two days of the tournament, and 2) It's amazing how many beers you can fit into a single day when there is basketball on TV all day long. Also, for future reference, be sure to check if the bar has a happy hour, or you may be decidedly unhappy when the check comes.

Ahh...but there were lessons learned on the court as well.

Oliver Purnell - ClemsonAt the beginning of the college basketball season most figured North Carolina and Duke to be head and shoulders above everyone else in the Atlantic Coast Conference. This assumption carried throug the first month of the season as well.

Wake Forest, Miami and now the Clemson Tigers are slowly beginning to earn this elite respect as well.

AD Vassallo - Virginia TechAs the college basketball season turns just a month old, it appears that one ACC team has already fallen out of contention for an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.

As Virginia Tech lost to a potential SEC cellar-dwelling opponent in Georgia on Tuesday night, the Hokies affirmed, yet again, that it just does not have the heart to compete for forty minutes this season. They are just nine points away from being undefeated but instead sport a 5-4 record.
