Portland State Signs Pair of Local Products

The Portland State men's basketball program has signed two local
student-athletes to National Letters of Intent for the 2010-11 academic
year as announced by Head Coach Tyler Geving today.

Brandon Cataldo, a 6-10 center from Rainier (OR) High School, has signed
with the Vikings. Cataldo is rated as the 10th best high school center
in the nation by ESPN.com and rated the second-best high school center
on the west coast by scouthoops.com.

As a junior at Rainier, Cataldo was the Player of the Year in the Lewis

Tyler Geving Named Portland St Coach

The Portland State Athletics Department has elevated Tyler Geving to Head Men's Basketball Coach and charged him with furthering the development of the most successful era in Viking basketball history.

Geving was introduced as Portland State's new Head Coach at a press conference in the Stott Center's Morrow Team Room on the PSU campus on Tuesday afternoon. His selection as the 12th Head Coach in Viking basketball history comes after four seasons as the number one assistant to former coach Ken Bone, and the last two seasons as Associate Head Coach.

Portland State Upsets #7 Gonzaga

SPOKANE, Wash. - Jeremiah Dominguez hit seven three-pointers and scored a game-high 25 points as Portland State upset No. 7 Gonzaga, 77-70, on Tuesday night for its first-ever win over a ranked opponent.


The Vikings entered the contest 0-11 against Top 25 teams since reinstating their basketball program for the 1996-97 season, and hadn't won in Spokane since 1974.


Sophomore Phil Nelson hit the deciding shot for the Vikings with 1:09 left in the game.
