I really wish I had something profound and interesting to say this time around but I don’t. And I think that’s kinda fitting for this time of the college hoops season. Earlier in the year we had to create things to talk about in order to justify paying attention to hoops over football and other stuff. But with the sports landscape all to itself and a season that has been exciting but void of any transcendent storylines on the court (and don’t say Memphis, Undefeated because I still can’t find anyone

Three weeks ago I pegged Providence College as the Seven Day Savior (team), and they have collapsed since then. Two weeks ago, I put Seton Hall in the same category and they too, have fallen off the radar since my selection. Even my choices of SDS individual awards have been hit. Two weeks ago, it was Central Florida. Last week it was UNC-Asheville. Both teams went from undefeated when I wrote about them to losing…in UCF’s case, more than once. Last week I selected Drake and probably put a scare into those

Without a doubt the hardest conference to determine its top monthly players is the Pac-10. This is especially true when it comes to the front court players, where such luminaries as Chase Budinger and Ryan Anderson didn’t make the cut. So after much deliberation, here is the All-January Pac-10 team.

Guard – Darren Collison – UCLA – JR
14.6ppg, 4.3apg, 1.9spg
Best game – Jan 26th – Oregon State – 33 points, three assists, three steals
