Patrick Patterson Returning to UK

Patrick Patterson - UKLEXINGTON, Ky. - Kentucky sophomore Patrick Patterson will withdraw his name from the NBA Draft and will return to Kentucky for his junior season.

Patterson, a 6-foot-9 forward, led the Southeastern Conference last season and ranked 11th in the country in field goal percentage with a 60.3 clip. The Huntington, W. Va., native said he had three reasons for returning to UK.

Former Memphis Recruit Darnell Dodson Signs With UK

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The University of Kentucky men's basketball program has signed Miami-Dade Community College standout Darnell Dodson, Coach John Calipari announced on Friday.

Dodson, originally from Greenbelt, Md., attended Miami-Dade Community College last season where he helped guide the Sharks to a Southern Conference Championship and a 26-2 regular season record. The 6-7 small forward averaged 15.7 points and 5.6 rebounds while shooting 76.7 percent from free throw line en route to First Team All-Southern Conference honors.

Michael Porter Not Returning to UK

KentuckyLEXINGTON, Ky. - Kentucky junior Michael Porter has decided not to return to the University of Kentucky basketball program he announced on Wednesday.

"This has been a decision weighing on my shoulders for a while," said Porter. "Being married, and now with my little girl on the way, my priorities have simply changed. I love basketball and will miss it a lot, but I think it's the best thing for me and my family at this stage of my life.

Jodie Meeks to Enter Draft: Won't Hire Agent

Jodie Meeks - UKLEXINGTON, Ky. - Kentucky junior Jodie Meeks will submit his name to the National Basketball Association for its June draft, but will not hire an agent, leaving open the possibility to return to Kentucky next season.

Meeks, a 6-4 guard, led the SEC and ranked eighth in the country in scoring, averaging 23.7 ppg. He set the school record for points in a game (54 at Tennessee) and three-pointers in a season, (117) while also shooting an SEC best 90.2 percent from the free throw line.

Cal And the Cats: A Good Fit?

John Calipari - MemphisI have been wrong before - believe me. I once remember telling a friend that Rashad Carruth was going to be a fantastic player at Kentucky. I thought it was a good thing the Cats didn't recruit Chris Lofton out of high school. I thought Tayshaun Prince would be, at best, a decent NBA sixth-man. I even bought into the rumors that Patrick Sparks would be the missing piece UK needed to a national title after he transferred from Western Kentucky.

So keep that in mind when I tell you that I don't have the greatest feeling about John Calipari coming to Lexington.

From -- The University of Kentucky will hold a press conference Friday, March 27 at 4:30 p.m. ET in the Memorial Coliseum media room.


UK President Lee T. Todd, Jr. and Athletics Director Mitch Barnhart will be announcing a change in the head coaching position of the men's basketball program.
