Ole Miss Adds Indiana Transfer Nick Williams

IndianaOXFORD, Miss. -- Ole Miss head basketball coach Andy Kennedy announced Monday that former Indiana starting guard Nick Williams is transferring to join the Rebels.

Due to NCAA transfer rules, the 6-foot-4, 211-pound Alabama native can start practicing with the team in the fall but is ineligible for the 2009-10 season. Williams may begin playing in the 2010-11 campaign with three years of eligibility remaining.

David Huertas Leaving Ole Miss (Going Pro)

InternationalOXFORD, Miss. ? Junior guard David Huertas has elected to forego his senior year at Ole Miss and pursue a professional basketball career in his native country of Puerto Rico, head coach Andy Kennedy announced Monday.

Huertas led the Rebels in scoring this past season with 18.1 points per game and was named to the All-SEC second team by the Associated Press and league coaches. He was also a second team All-District selection by the NABC.

The legend-in-the-making Florida QB led the Gators to the national championship last Thursday, their second in three years and the third straight title for an SEC school. Tebow’s performance erased much of a mediocre SEC season in most people’s minds, and gave the conference bragging rights once again. The only bad thing is…Tebow doesn’t play basketball as well.


Ole Miss PG Chris Warren Out For Season

The injury-riddled 2008-09 Ole Miss basketball season continued on Friday as the team learned that sophomore point guard Chris Warren will miss the remainder of the season after a Friday morning MRI revealed a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. It also showed a minor MCL sprain, a medial meniscus tear and a lateral bone contusion.
