Jon Teitel's "Forgotten Legends" Series: Alabama State's Kevin Loder

In the most recent installment in his "Forgotten Legends" interview series CHN writer Jon Teitel spent some time with Alabama State great Kevin Loder. Loder, who began his collegiate career at Kentucky State, averaged 24.6 points per game in the Hornets' run to the 1980 NAIA title game. Loder now runs his own consulting firm. Recently CHN writer Jon Teitel caught up with Alabama State head coach Lewis Jackson, whose Hornets take on Texas-San Antonio in a "First Four" matchup on Wednesday night with the winner getting East top seed Ohio State on Friday in Cleveland. In addition to his accomplishments as head coach, Jackson is one of the greatest players in the history of Alabama State basketball. The day before Selection Sunday is finally here, which means that a number of conferences will determine their winners throughout the course of the day. Thirteen automatic bids are up for grabs and a 14th, the battle between South Dakota and North Dakota in the Great West, will be for an automatic bid in the College Insider Tournament. The Big 12 and Big East title games may receive a great deal of attention (and rightfully so), but the first meeting between teams with 30 victories will take place in the Mountain West final.

College Hoops Friday Recap: Perennial Bubbler Finally Gets a Break

It's almost become an annual occurrence in college basketball: Seth Greenberg's Virginia Tech Hokies in their customary spot on the bubble. And they looked to be headed in that direction tonight against Florida State in the final quarterfinal of the night in Greensboro, trailing 27-19 at the half and shooting a brutal 17.9% from the field. The Seminoles outscored Virginia Tech 16-6 in the paint and 14-7 in bench points in the first half, and guards Malcolm Delaney and Erick Green combined to shoot 1-for-15.

College Hoops Monday Recap: Kansas State Wins in Austin

It's one thing to say you're not going to play in the NIT and another to come through on your guarantee. That's exactly what senior guard Jacob Pullen has done in recent weeks for Kansas State and as a result the Wildcats find themselves in a very good position with one game left in the regular season. Pullen (X-rays on his right hand were negative according to FoxSports.com's Jeff Goodman) scored 20 points while Rodney McGruder led the way with 22 in a 75-70 win at #7 Texas.
College Hoops Monday Recap: Syracuse Returns the Favor

Usually a concern to play a bit reckless when in his hometown of Philadelphia, Scoop Jardine had no such issues on Monday night in leading Syracuse to a 69-64 win over Villanova at the Well Fargo Center. Jardine made seven of eleven shots from the field, finishing with 20 points along with six assists and four rebounds and fellow Philadelphian Rick Jackson added 18 points and five rebounds. Offensively this contest was a far cry from the first meeting between the two, an 83-72 Villanova win that featured a combined 21 three-pointers made with the Wildcats making 11.
