College: Georgetown
Class: Junior
Position: SF
Height: 6’8”
Weight: 236lbs
Accolades: Big East All-Tournament Team (07), Gatorade Boys Basketball Maryland Player of the Year - high school (06).
Scouting Report: An explosive athlete with a grown man’s body.
Strengths: Great size for a small forward. Very long arms. Solid defender. Big and strong. Plays physical - uses his strength well. Aggressive player. Good leaper. Explosive player. Good spot-up shooter. Capable slashing to the hoop. Good three-point shooter - over 100 made for his career. Very consistent scorer.
Weaknesses: Needs to improve his ball handling. Turns the ball over way too much. Tends to rely on jumpers too much rather than driving or using his size/strength down low. Mediocre rebounder. Not much of a passer/assist man. Foul prone.
Projected 2009 Draft Range: Late first round to early second round pick.
Consensus: With his size and skills, DaJuan Summers has tons of potential as a NBA player. Whether or not he fully develops his game and becomes an above average pro is unclear, but the potential is there.
