Fantasy Basketball Update

Many college teams have a big man who can shoot a high percentage from the field simply by posting up down low and dunking the ball, or a long-distance gunner who stands by the three-point line all day, or a free-throw savant whose picture-perfect stroke makes him almost automatic from the charity stripe.  Twenty years ago, these three players would combine to form a strong nucleus that would give a team great balance.  These days, teams hope for one special multi-dimensional player who possesses all of these skills.  Sometimes it’s a power forward who happens to have range out to 20 feet from the basket; other times it’s a point guard who is very selective with his outside shot.  While many young prospects place a premium on dunking or passing, a select group of players realize that a big key to winning games is simply the ability to make shots from 1-point, 2-point, and 3-point range.  The following list includes players on great teams (like Illinois) and average teams (like Baylor), some who are superstars (like Head) and some who are unknowns (like Copeland).  However, it’s no coincidence that each of these top-10 shooters (in no particular order) is a member of a team with a winning record.
