Jeff Teague - Wake Forest

Jeff Teague

College: Wake Forest

Class: Sophomore

Position: PG/SG

Height: 6’2”

Weight: 180lbs

Accolades: ACC All-Freshman Team (08).

Scouting Report: One of the breakout stars of the 08/09 college season.

Strengths: Explosive off the dribble - can get by his man, split double teams. Good at getting shot off over defenders off the dribble (floaters, acrobatic shots). Aggressive - always looking to attack on offense and defense. Killer crossover. Very quick hands on defense - gets tons of steals. Explosive scorer. Good body control. Extremely fast player. Great three-point shooter. Good experience - played two years of big minutes in the ACC

Weaknesses: Small for the NBA - needs to get bigger/stronger. Isn’t a true point guard - spends a lot of his time at the shooting guard spot. Will be too small for the off guard position in the NBA. Needs the ball to be effective. Forces passes. Really needs to cut down on turnovers - has as many turnovers as assists for his career. Is a year older than most other sophomores.

Projected 2009 Draft Range: Lottery pick.

Consensus: Jeff Teague probably has the most improved draft stock among this year’s prospects. However, he really could use another year in college to prove he can run the point in the NBA.

I just don't see it

I think Teague is GREAT in college, but I do not see where he fits in with the NBA. He can penetrate and is showing a smooth outside stroke, but he lacks some of the GREAT pg vision thats necessary at this point. Maybe if he can stay another year and continue to run the point he could prove to be lottery talent. I think he would go lottery because of how thin the draft will be this year, but not quite there yet.

West Side!

I can see Teague as an All Star at point. He is demonic to an opposing defense and can get past anyone in front of him regardless of size. He will be great on a uptempo team.Think of him as a Steve Nash/B. Roy type.
I like these draft profiles and all but where is Eric Maynor's???!

it's coming.. slowly working

it's coming.. slowly working our way through all the prospects. But does Teague have enough speed to be a good NBA point?

He's got it

I think he does. One thing about PTP'ers and Supastars like Teague is they face the fastest, strongest lockdown defender every night and in the ACC that guy is fast and strong so Yea! If anything he's a lil puny and maybe needs to pack on some pounds, get toned up like Brandon Roy or OJ Mayo and he will have an impact on a team like Sacramento or Golden St.
