2009 NBA DRAFT NBA Mock Draft - Top 100 Prospects - NBA Team Needs/Capsules - 2010 Draft

John Wall

College: Undecided

Class: Freshman

Position: PG

Height: 6’4”

Weight: 185lbs

Accolades: None

Scouting Report: A potential elite NBA point guard.

Strengths: Great size for a point guard. Blazing speed. Explosive athlete. Incredible leaper. Finishes strong above the rim. Great ball-handler. Very good in transition. Great passer. Very good shot blocker for a point guard. Long arms.

Weaknesses: Needs to improve his outside shot. Got charged with breaking and entering his senior year of high school. Still very inexperienced - it takes point guards longer to adjust to the NBA. Turns the ball over too much. Needs to become a better defender.

Projected 2010 Draft Range: Top 3 pick.

Consensus: John Wall’s athleticism, size and point guard skills makes him an elite-level NBA prospect. Should be the first overall pick in the 2010 draft.

Your analysis is consistent

Your analysis is consistent with everything else that's being said about Wall. I can't recall exactly how many times John Wall is described as a "Derrick Rose clone". If that's true, there will be very few teams who wouldn't go for him.

Wall is NOT a D.Rose clone!

Wall has some D.Rose features, He's not a D.Rose clone. He also has some D.Wade in his game but i would say he's more of an early nba career Steve Francis because of his flashy aggressive play style, killer crossovers, creative offensive skill set he uses to score at will & his change of direction speed with the ball in his hands

Francis

Francis is a guy he gets compared to a lot. Hopefully he doesn't mimic his career path also.

breaking and entering?

c'mon man, he was hanging with some friends in an abandoned house, most likely trying to get some nookie there since he can't at his mom's house. it's not like he's some thug that was stealing or vandalizing.

Got charged with breaking and entering in high school

While this is true, does it really need to be added to his NBA Draft profile??

I could see why if he had broken into a house and stole something or vandalized, but it turns out that it was him and two other high school friends hanging out in an abandoned house.

By all accounts Wall is a stand up kid, he just got caught doing something dumb, but not something that makes him a "thug" or anything like that.
