Josh Heytvelt

College: Gonzaga

Class: Senior

Position: PF

Height: 6’11”

Weight: 260lbs

Accolades: None

Scouting Report: An inside/outside threat with good size.

Strengths: Good athlete for a big man. Good leaper. Solid scorer. Nice face up jumper. Very efficient scorer. Wisely uses backboard on jumpers. Big and strong - NBA size. Capable of big scoring outbursts. Can hit the three. Able to block some shots. Experienced. Decent rebounder.

Weaknesses: Off-court issues - had a very publicized drug bust while in college. Will already be 23-years-old around the time of the draft. Injury prone throughout his collegiate career. Didn’t play in one of the top conferences. Has some post-up moves but still needs more work. Inconsistent.

Projected 2009 Draft Range: Late first round to mid second round pick.

Consensus: Josh Heytvelt has a good package of size, skills and athleticism. However, his off-court problem, inconsistency and injury history raise concerns.

Heyvelt has matured much more than you show

Josh led the team by example and play this, his senior year. He was 1st Team ALL-WCC this year too. The questions his soph year were answered, and he apologized to all of Gonzaga and his subsequent behavior showed he's grown beyond that. He has both a good defensive and offensive game, and blends in well with a guard oriented team too.
