What a day! We just returned from Washington, DC after attending the first day of the Western Regional. I'll tell you...the excitment in the Duke-Belmont game was something else! I picked Duke to win, but found my loyalties shifted after a trash talk bet I placed with my wife. This is a true story and I have tons of witnesses to back this up. I said this morning that Belmont would lose to Duke by less than ten points. The people I attended the game with laughed and laughed. When the lead extended to 10 points, we started plotting our exit strategy so we could get home in time to watch George Mason. As we all know, that strategy failed. The Duke game epitomized what March Madness is and was truly worth the entire 4 game session.

I'm a little surprised (so far...knock on wood) that there no upsets. Wondering what this means for tomorrow. My biggest upset in terms of seeding, Winthrop, got absolutely destroyed. I'll recap this in a later post.

There were a couple of things I learned today when I was in DC:

-Do not wear a jacket indicating that you're a member of the Ballroom Dance Team. At a basketball game. On national television.

-The vendors at the arena appear to sell bottled water only when Duke plays.

-The DC Chop Shop has the best thin crust pizza.

-I was aware that Duke was hated, but I didn't realize how deep it was.

-The Verizon center has a gigantic screen TV

I will do recap of today's events tomorrow, with more live stuff throughout the day.
