The
Important Questions
CHN experts answer the
important questions that are on your mind this week. We know
you're not thinking about your wife, or your job, or even your kids this
week. No, this week is devoted to college basketball, and only
college basketball.
Question #1:
What Teams on the Bubble Got Screwed?
You've been there before.
The 6th man on a 5-man team. Got cut from your school's 4th grade
play. The 3rd wheel.
Brad Best -
San Diego State
Miami OH,
They won their conference and did what was expected of them.
Richard "The Professor"
Cheeks - Kentucky Wildcats
Ohio
State.
Dan Curry -
DCI National Ranking
Buffalo
or Miami-Ohio from the MAC.
Sydney Hunte -
MAAC
Notre Dame. It was
enough to beat West Virginia, but beating the two top teams in the Big
East in national champion UConn and Boston College should have been
enough to lift the Irish to the Big Dance. They were hurt by losing to
Rutgers but held their own especially with a strength of schedule of 64.
Bill "Cigarboy" Kintner
- College Basketball Interviews
Buffalo-they have a pretty good record in a good conference. I think
they got ding for their ooc schedule.
Mark Marra -
CCSU Blue Devils
Notre Dame should have made
it.
Ed Matisik -
NCAA Legal Issues
St. Joseph's. Maryland--stop
whining, you only won 16 games and lost to Clemson--Clemson!--three
times! Notre Dame, quit crying, you had a lousy finish. St. Joseph's
is probably not in the NCAA because John Cheyney sent in his goon
squad. The Hawk ain't dead, but apparently the selection committee
decided to finish the contract that Cheyney took out on him.
Adam Stanco -
National
Commentary
Buffalo. Teams should
be rewarded for playing the big boys. The Bulls were crushed in their
season opener at UConn, but won games against Niagra and at Penn State.
Despite their last-second overtime loss in the conference tournament
title game (a game they were winning by 19 in the second half), their
win at Fresno State during the Bracket Buster weekend should have given
them spot in the NCAA Tournament.
Jon Teitel -
Ivy League
Texas
A&M. The Aggies only finished 8-8 in their conference, and lost its
opening game of the Big 12 Tournament to finish 19-9 overall. However,
after starting the season 11-0 in non-conference play, it beat NCAA
Tournament teams Iowa State, Texas, and Texas Tech once apiece, and only
scheduled 27 regular season games. Had it scheduled 3 more cupcakes
like several other teams do in order to play 30 games, and finished 22-9
overall, I think they would have been granted an at-large berth.
Dan Vance -
Indiana Schools
Maryland.
The Terps had a strong season with even stronger wins. Ignoring two huge
wins over Duke is a mistake by the committee. They have the potential to
be a Sweet 16 team. The only other team with a legit point is Indiana.
Not the school, the state...who saw both the Hoosier and Notre Dame get
the NIT door slammed in their faces.
Joel Welser -
Monday Mailbag
Miami (OH), just to give the
MAC a little well deserved respect.
