There are some bad losses on the Cal resume, but we can excuse the opening
day loss at Eastern Michigan, due to the absence of Leon Powe. Cal isn’t
all about Powe and his 20 points and 10 rebounds though. Devon Hardin
provides another option under the basket and compliments Powe quite well.
Ayinde Ubaka and Richard Midgley can hit the long ball and rarely turn the
ball over. The rebounding margin is surprisingly low and somebody else
besides Powe and Hardin needs to hit the glass. The frontcourt depth begins
and ends at Rod Benson, so the extra rebounding will have to come from Omar
Wilkes and Theo Robertson on the wing.
