Tom Crean’s
young backcourt took huge strides as the season progressed and they are
getting better everyday. If the trio of freshmen can handle the pressure,
Marquette has the ability to make some noise in the tournament. However,
the team leader is Steve Novak. The marksman averages over 17 points per
game and is among the nation’s leaders in three point and free throw
shooting percentage. There is some talent on the bench in forwards Ryan
Amoroso, Ousmane Barro and Dan Fitzgerald. That trio might not log tons of
minutes, but they need to play solid defense and neutralize the rebounding
disadvantage that Marquette normally has on the floor.
