The frontcourt is not deep and injuries down the stretch have not helped Tom
Izzo and company at all. Drew Naymick started the first seven games of the
year before being sidelined with a knee injury. Matt Trannon stepped in
nicely before breaking his jaw. Marquise Gray earned nine starts, but is
coming off of an ankle injury. Trannon should be back for tourney time, but
his effectiveness remains to be seen. The Paul Davis dance partner carousel
continues with Delco Rowley and Goran Suton. Rowley fouls as much as he
scores and won’t be the answer. Suton, just a freshman, has shown signs of
being a long term answer to the problem, but lacks experience at the
moment. However, the other four starters are spectacular and, with a proven
coach like Tom Izzo on the sidelines, anything can happen with the Spartans.
