It’s a good
sign when even your center, who has the second most blocks in the
conference, nearly has a positive assist to turnover ratio. Often
overlooked among the back cuts and long balls is Cedric Simmons. The 6-9
sophomore averages over 12 points and six boards per contest; and, fittingly
with the Wolfpack, hit his only three-point attempt on the season. The
problem is Simmons can’t get all the rebounds by himself and he doesn’t have
much help in that department. Other than that, and a slim bench, NC State
doesn’t have weaknesses. Herb Sendek’s squad shoots well from everywhere on
the floor, has plenty of experience and does a decent job of taking care of
the ball.
