What separates
ORU from the usual mid-major looking for a first round upset is the
frontcourt. Caleb Green and Larry Owens can battle with the big boys in the
paint and on the glass, and that’s not even mentioning the biggest of them
all, 6-11 center Mickey Michalec. The backcourt is not too shabby either
with Ken Tutt, Chris Riouse and Jonathan Bluitt. Scott Sutton will go ten
deep without a second thought. The talent level does drop a bit, but
players like Moses Ehambe, Yemi Ogunoye and freshman Marchello Vealy can
fill in adequately off the bench. The Golden Eagles were expected to make
some major noise heading into the season, but a slew of early road losses
kept ORU under the radar. If things fall right, this is a team that can
surprise an unfortunate squad in the first round.
