There is some serious talent on San Diego State. The question has become if
they can play as a cohesive unit. Winning 16 of their last 18 games heading
into the NCAA Tournament has answered most of that question. Brandon Heath
and John Sharper both rank in the top 25 in three-point shooting
percentage. Marcus Slaughter averaged a double-double and, along with
Mohamed Abukar, dominated the interior of the MWC. Richie Williams had a
great freshman campaign, but having a young guy running the show in March is
always a concern. SDSU hasn’t faced much tough competition since Abukar
became eligible 21 games ago, but they haven’t lost much since then either.
