There aren’t
any huge wins besides the home victory over Memphis, but there aren’t any
bad losses either. A loss at UTEP isn’t bad, however scoring 37 points is
bad. Eleven players have started a game and Coach Mike Anderson will play
at least ten of those guys every game in March. The mid-season injury to
Demario Eddins took away the Blazers biggest inside scoring threat, but UAB
hardly missed a step. Carldell ‘Squeaky’ Johnson is one of the most
exciting players to watch in college basketball. He won’t score a lot, but
his assist and steal numbers both rank in the top ten in the nation. The
Blazer’s high paced tempo has caused tons of trouble recently in the NCAAs.
Thanks to teams like LSU, Washington and Kentucky, we have learned never to
overlook UAB.
